Headquartered in Seattle WA with locations in Quincy WA, New York City NY, Round Rock TX, and Ashburn VA.Targeted Salary range: $60,000 - $87,000Job Summary:The Staff Accountant is primarily responsible for providing accounting support to the operations team. This is a non-exempt position reporting to the Assistant Controller.Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and review monthly journal entries.
  • Prepare monthly internal financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Assist with quarterly external financial statements.
  • Assist in cash flow management and review.
  • Reconcile inter-company accounts.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts.
  • Reconcile subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger.
  • Prepare monthly bank account reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with Property Management in preparation of annual budgets, quarterly budget re-forecasts, and monthly budget variances.
  • Prepare annual tenant reconciliations.
  • Provide accounting support to the Property Management department.
  • Provide support to outside tax accountants for preparation of annual tax returns.
  • Assist with ad hoc reporting requirements.

  • Ability to interface with technology, operate a computer, and navigate a variety of software applications.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of Sabey employees and stakeholders - must be able to develop and maintain professional relationships with Sabey personnel and stakeholders.
  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal instruction.Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years' experience in real estate or property accounting or a related field.Preferred Competencies:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Advanced Excel skills required.
  • Thorough knowledge of full cycle accounting gained through hands-on experience with a complex company structure.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail - must be meticulous about accounting calculations and record keeping.
  • Working knowledge of accounting best practices - must be able to use relevant information and individual judgement to determine whether processes comply with laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Strong mathematical reasoning abilities - must be able to make sense of complex accounting challenges, systems, and processes.
  • Advanced knowledge of the English language - must be able to demonstrate strong written and oral comprehension and expression.
  • Working knowledge of Yardi or comparable property management accounting software.
  • Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Must be committed to continuous learning and growing within the organization.
