The County of Yolo is recruiting to fill one (1) regular, full-time position in the class of Property Tax Supervisor at the Department of Financial Services.Please note:This recruitment is ongoing and will remain open until the position is filled. The PositionThis is a single position supervisory class within the Department of Financial Services. The incumbent in this class is expected to work under minimal supervision and instruction, and to exercise considerable independent judgment and initiative while supervising and coordinating the work of staff performing property tax accounting functions within the property tax unit. The ideal candidate The ideal candidate will possess several years of experience performing property tax related functions with a California county; be knowledgeable of property tax accounting topics and procedures including assessed values, tax rate areas, direct charges, and tax rolls; have a strong understanding of governmental and fund-based accounting including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; and have experience leading and mentoring a team of employees.How To ApplyInterested applicants should submit an online County of Yolo Employment Application by the closing date. Employment Standards Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a closely related field; AND Two (2) years of full-time professional level experience performing property tax functions such as calculating and/or distributing property taxes, and/or preparing and maintaining property tax rolls. Substitution: Additional years of qualifying experience as defined above may be substituted for up to two years of the required education on the basis of one year of experience is equivalent to one year (30 semester or 45 quarter units) of college coursework.Licensure: Positions in this classification require incumbents to possess and maintain a valid California driver's license, Class C or higher, to carry out job related duties.   • Principles and practices of supervision, discipline, leadership, mentoring, and training
  • Pertinent laws, codes, rules, and regulations governing property tax in the State of California, including the Revenue and Taxation Code, as they apply to local government
  • Allocation and apportionment of property taxes and applicable subventions
  • Applicable general accounting standards and principles, particularly as they apply to public agencies
  • Office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers and applicable software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases; operation and application of computerized tax and financial information systems
  • Principles and practices of effective customer service
  • English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation
