Company Description SOCOTEC is a provider of niche consulting services within the architecture, engineering and construction industries focusing on high-performance buildings and specialty structures. Our New York City Headquarters is seeking a Proposal Director for our expanding ATIC team, supporting SOCOTEC's specialized building envelope, sustainability, energy efficiency, code advisory and commissioning groups. This is a full-time role with expectation that 4 days per week are in-person in our New York City HQ, one day per week remote. Job Description The Proposal Director is responsible for establishing the processes, standards, and communication protocols necessary for successful proposal development and delivery. The Proposal Director delivers staff training sessions and materials, and allocates resources across all of ATIC's proposals. A creative problem-solver, the Proposal Director works with multiple service line leaders in the organization to implement results-focused strategies for competitive proposals that maximize the win rate for awarded projects. The ideal candidate is a positive and collaborative team leader, able to nimbly navigate between the big-picture and details, and can quickly direct team resources for dynamic proposal development schedules and requirements. This position is ideal for a self-motivated individual that is responsive to client, team and company requirements, who can organize multiple priorities and deadlines on any given day. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Manage the successful development of compelling and successful proposals through effective collaboration across teams that include internal staff, corporate partners, and subconsultants.
  • Apply experience and best practices in proposal team management to ensure the timely delivery of proposal submissions that comply with client requirements and RFQ/RFP instructions.
  • Develop and deliver training materials for proposal team and other staff to continuously improve our corporate proposal operations.
  • Provide insight, leadership, and work guidance to authors on all proposal content.
  • Manage the development of oral presentations, discussions, and proposal revisions.
  • Ensure the high-quality content and appearance of final proposal deliverables meet corporate design guidelines, branding and messaging.
  • Conduct and document proposal lessons learned and implement actions to improve process efficiency.
  • Develop technical proposals based on existing proposal templates, and corresponding estimates for level of effort and fees as needed to meet team deadlines. Coordinate and support the production, reproduction, binding, and packaging in finalizing the proposal submission and response processes.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by your supervisor or manager
Qualifications JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to multi-task, manage multiple deadlines, and engage in decisive and effective decision-making.
  • Master's / Advanced degree in communications, organizational learning, knowledge management, business, or other equivalent professional experience: experience in architecture, engineering, or related field is desirable.
  • Minimum 6 years proven successful experience managing proposal teams and leading them effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience with creating proposal content, editing, and managing proposal development activities.
  • Expertise in English writing to perform information research and synthesize multiple sources (subject matter experts, previous proposals) into a cohesive, easy-to-read, and persuasive final product.
  • High proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (especially Adobe InDesign) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint is desirable.
