Job Description:
We seek a detail-oriented Prototype/Lab Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing prototypes, conducting tests, and ensuring the quality of our packaging solutions. This person will source materials to create prototypes, assist carpenters in making prototypes, conduct tests, and ensure prototypes are shipped to customers. The ideal candidate will have a mechanical or industrial engineering background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities: - Develop and safely assemble prototypes of custom packaging solutions based on design specifications using hand and power tools.
- Conduct tests and experiments to evaluate the performance and durability of prototypes, including working with drop tables, shake tables, and strength testing.
- Analyze test results and provide detailed reports with recommendations for improvements.
- Collaborate with design engineers and production teams to refine and optimize packaging designs.
- Maintain a clean and organized lab environment, ensuring all equipment is properly calibrated and maintained.
- Assist in the development and implementation of new testing methodologies and procedures.
- Understand and implement ISTA and ASTM testing procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and quality standards.
- Document all processes, test results, and modifications made to prototypes.
Qualifications: - Associate's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in prototype development and testing, preferably in the packaging industry, is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in using various lab equipment and tools.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with CAD software and other design tools is a plus.
- Forklift Certification is a plus.
