Job Title: PSN Editor/Digital Media Specialist Supervisor: Manager of Communication and MediaCompany: PRCA - Properties Department: MediaFLSA Status: Exempt Date: 01/02/2025Annual Salary Range: $60,760 to $70,000ONSITE POSITION - NOT A REMOTE OR HYBRID POSITIONJob Summary: Plan, create, coordinate, and revise material for publication in the PRCA magazine and websites. Reviews story ideas and determines what material will appeal most to readers. Conducts on-camera interviews and assists with digital media content creation on all platforms. Is the first point of contact for Media Department Team. Acts on behalf of the Manager of Communication and Media during their absence within the parameters of the job.Essential Duties:
  • Plan, manage and produce the ProRodeo Sports News magazine by authoring articles, managing writers, editing content, and managing the production process.
  • Edit and organize editorial content for the magazine and websites.
  • Supervises PSN staff and freelancers to ensure timely completion of articles for deadline.
  • Assign articles to staff members and contractors. monitor progress to ensure deadlines are met. Edits submissions prior to posting.
  • Provides design insight and suggestions to Art Director.
  • Work with Publishing Support to plan circulation disbursement for each issue, including number of magazines to produce and distribution.
  • Ensures the PRCA office has ample copies of the magazine in-house, including copies for archives and for PRCA Membership to send out to members. Troubleshoot problems with circulation and/or subscriptions.
  • Produce and or write all press releases for distribution on Constant Contact.
  • Manage and update athlete bios on the web site and in media guide.
  • Promotes the PRCA by creating onsite videos for social media platforms, presenting on Instagram Live and Facebook Live and negotiating with celebrities to appear on PRCA social media platforms.
  • Conducts on-camera interviews to assist Digital Media content creation team.
  • Shoot, edit, and produce official Pro Rodeo podcast.
  • Oversee digital content for Pro Rodeo Sports News magazine.
  • Approve payment for photographers and freelance writers for each issue.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
    • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or related field and 3 years relevant experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
    • Knowledge of the sports industry, media, and/or rodeo is a plus.
    • Experience producing relevant content to target audiences.
    • Strong writing, editing and interpersonal skills.
    • Knowledge of camera and audio operations.
    • Ability to nurture long-term relationships with key influencers.
    • Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and research skills.
    • Ability to manage on-camera interviews in a professional manner.
    • Knowledge of video and audio editing platforms
    • High level of interpersonal skills and integrity to handle sensitive and confidential situations and information.
    • High level of communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate with poise, tact, and diplomacy.
    • Strong decision-making skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities
    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
    • Ability to maintain technical skills and knowledge of industry.
    • Ability to work non-traditional days and hours.

Work Environment:Works in office environment with frequent travel for meetings, seminars, and conventions in and out of state.Physical Demands: This is a sedentary role; however, movement and lifting are required. Position requires the ability to lift up to 40lbs to carry, lift, and pack equipment, and set up camera equipment and tripods. Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets. Regularly required to sit, talk, hear, walk, and stand.
