This Psychiatric Aide 3 position is for a vacancy located in our inpatient residential facility, Fontainebleau Treatment Center/Alcohol & Treatment Center, in Mandeville, Louisiana.

This position will be filled as a Classified WAE (When Actually Employed or PRN) limited to 1,245 hours in a 12 month period. Psychiatric Aides shall be compensated shift differential rates for actual hours worked. These rates have been established by the FPHSA policy and approved by the Civil Service Commission. Shift Differential Rates may range from $0.25/hour to $1.60/hour, depending on both the shift and the day worked.
No Civil Service test score is required in order to be considered for this vacancy.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Eighteen months of experience in psychiatric patient care or in providing care, guidance or training to the developmentally disabled, physically disabled or chemically dependent.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
College training with at least six semester hours per year in one or a combination of education, psychology, counseling, social work, sociology, child guidance, or nursing will substitute for the required experience on the basis of thirty semester hours for one year of experience.
A Mental Health Aide Diploma from a vocational technical college with an approved curriculum from the Louisiana State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education will substitute for six months of the required experience.
NOTE:
Most vacancies will be filled by promotion. Completion of an in- service training program administered by the department may be required.Function of Work:
To perform responsible non-professional nursing support work involving direct patient care and the implementation of a variety of planned therapeutic techniques.

Job Distinctions:
Differs from Psychiatric Aide 2 by the implementation of a variety of planned therapeutic techniques.This Psychiatric Aide 3 position provides direct care to clients receiving substance use treatment in a 24-hour residential facility. This facility is an ASAM Level III.5 Adult Clinically Managed High Intensity, residential substance use treatment program. This position provides direct nursing-aide coverage on the unit, which may include the following duties: continuous observation of clients, taking vital signs, performing room checks, collecting urine drug screens or urinalysis by order of physician or charge nurse, ensuring clients stay on schedule with labs and clinical appointments, maintaining documentation in the electronic health record (EHR), monitoring and/or auditing chart orders and checking/auditing MD orders nightly, creating & preparing documentation for clients with special dietary needs, and working collaboratively with other clinical and administrative staff. Driving and alternating shift work may also be required, and the chosen applicant will be required to possess (or obtain) a Chauffeur's/Class D driver's license if hired.
