JOB TITLE: Psychiatric Med PrescriberDEPARTMENT: Medical SUPERVISOR: Medical DirectorFLSA/TYPE: Exempt SUPERVISES: N/A JOB SUMMARY:Provide psychiatric diagnostic and evaluation, prescribing, medication management, referrals, and support for persons with mental health concerns. Provide addiction diagnoses and MAT treatment and work closely with the medical, clinical and administrative multi-disciplinary team to ensure continuity of care. Perform patient care direct service in accordance with service excellence standards. This position includes maintaining paperwork, timely completion of clinical documentation, participating in treatment team meetings and occasional community meetings, and other administrative tasks as assigned. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Follow Willapa Behavioral Health & Wellness Service Excellence Standards / Code of Ethics and Policies and Procedures.

  • Maintain appropriate boundaries with clients and staff.
  • Work on-site as necessary or remotely using telehealth technology as determined by management.
  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Provides initial diagnostic and evaluations, medication management, and follow up appointments. Assigns diagnoses to patients with acute or chronic mental health, substance use disorders and/or other addictions. Completes initial diagnostic evaluation and associated clinical documentation according to best practice and service excellence agency standards.
  • Writes prescription medications and coordinates with the pharmacies.
  • Facilitates the coordination of prescriptions to the appropriate pharmacies forbubble packing of specific client's medications and reviews the medications upon arrival at WBHW for accuracy.
  • Maintains sample inventory to track incoming and outgoing sample medications.
  • Facilitates the administration of injectable medications.
  • Maintains record in EMR of injections prescribed and administered.
  • Assures that the medication is properly stored, and sterile technique is followed when drawing the medications into the syringe and when administered.
  • Promotes the comfort of the client for privacy upon the administration of the medication.
  • Assures that the medication is not outdated and refills the medication as needed.
  • Observes for side effects that may occur with this type of injection and maintains emergency medication and orders for specific reactions.
  • Explains any side effects to the client and have him/her acknowledge that he/she understands.
  • Attends professional training, conferences, and workshops as appropriate to responsibilities of this position and to maintain by certification. Meets requirements of at least 75-124 CEU hours, 1500-2000 hours of work experience per required of number of years and recertification is completed every 5 years.
  • Maintains collaborative relationships with other agencies, pharmacies, clinics, hospitals, Emergency Room Physicians, PCPs, nurses, school counselors, nursing home staff, insurance companies and patient assistance program representative.
  • Performs client medication reviews. Completes reviews as needed and remediates any aberrant findings.
  • Maintains ROI between clients and their care providers. Send all documentation to their other care providers as needed according to the ROI.
  • Documentation of diagnosis, evaluation, notifications, and medication management. Completes all documentation no later than three business days from appointment.
  • Perform medication checks on clients. Complete medications checks in a timely manner.
  • Reviews all laboratory results and dates and initials and consults with other providers if necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned. Completion of requested tasks in a timely manner.
  • RequirementsJOB REQUIREMENTS:MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:Education Required:
  • A valid Washington State Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner License, or Psychologist licenses.
  • Two years' experience in each of the following disciplines: Psychiatry, Primary Care and Residential Treatment Facility required.
  • Certification in Psychiatry strongly recommended.
  • Experience Required:
  • A minimum of two years' experience practicing independently with minimal oversite.
  • At least three years working with individuals with mental health, substance use disorders and other addictions.
  • Skills Required:
  • Able to maintain good rapport with staff members and provide supervision direction and support to department team.
  • Demonstrated competency in working with a diverse population of adults/children.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with the medical and/or nursing model and DSM diagnostics.
  • Be able to maintain appropriate boundaries with consumers and staff and have sound judgment.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Standing, walking briskly for emergencies.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access all areas of the facility.
  • Other:
  • Requires maintaining positive, supportive working relationships with CEO, Clinical Director, management, medical team, professional and support staff.
  • Detail and deadline oriented.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, computer proficiency to document in the electronic medical record (EMR) and utilize telehealth and Microsoft office suite.
  • Undergo and pass criminal background check upon initial employment and any subsequent checks required by the agency.
  • Meet requirements of agency's drug free workplace policy.
  • Excellent customer service with a client focus.
  • Able to sit, stand and move for long hours at a time and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.
  • Able to drive in daylight, darkness, and typical Northwest weather conditions.
  • Flexible to fill-in shifts if needed.
  • Meet the current Washington health care vaccination requirements for health care workers.
