The Psychiatric NP will provide behavioral health treatment for a wide-variety psychiatric disorders and help with all aspects of patient care including diagnosis, treatment, collaboration and consultations.Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Responsibilities:* Assesses the patient's general mental health condition by collecting medical histories, administering comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and identifying issues that may be affecting the patient's state of mental health.* Interprets and integrates data to determine preliminary diagnosis and creates an individualized therapeutic plan for mental health problems and psychiatric disorders based on evidence-based standards of care and practice guidelines.* Prescribes psychotropic drugs and related medications to treat symptoms of psychiatric disorders and improve functional health status based on clinical indications of a patient's status, including results of diagnostic and lab tests.* Identifies, measures, and monitors clinical and related behavioral outcomes to determine the effectiveness and appropriateness of the plan of care.* Educates patients and /or family as to the nature of the psychiatric condition and provides appropriate instructions on proper intervention and treatment.* Collaborates with the psychiatrists and other staff members in the team in managing acute and long-term medical and psychiatric/mental health needs of patients.* Documents medical history and treatment plans effectively, concisely and accurately. Apply now to be a part of our dynamic medical team.What You Bring To Refuah:* Active NY DEA Registration* BSN, MSN preferred; successful completion of an approved nurse practitioner psychiatric program* Current registered nurse license and certification in New York State* Minimum of three years of professional nursing experience in a clinic or hospital setting plus at least one year of psychiatric nurse practitioner experience* Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices and regulations to give and evaluate patient care* Knowledge of drug regimens and their indications, dosing, side effects, and proper administration* Knowledge of current and emerging trends in technologies, techniques, methods, issues and approaches in psychiatry* Knowledge of state and federal rules and regulations as they apply to the advanced practice of nursing* Displays exceptional verbal and written communication skills* Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations* Ability to establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, families, and other members of the health care team* Eligible to Work in the USPrincipals only.
