Job Type Full-timeDescriptionThe Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners (NPs) as they assess mental health symptoms, diagnose conditions and prescribe medications. The supervisor ensures that NPs educate clients on the benefits, risks, and potential side-effects of medication options, allowing clients to make informed treatment decisions. The Supervisor will collaborate with NPs on client care and treatment plans, support their coordination with other professionals, including primary care providers (PCPs), and assist with referrals to other programs and resources as needed. The Supervisor will conduct regular meetings to ensure that policies and procedures related to medication, prescribing and treatment are thoroughly addressed. The Supervisor will maintain a reduced caseload and adhere to the same guidelines as the supervisees. These services will be rendered within the protocols of the Company's clinical standards and regulating bodies. RequirementsESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supervise NP's (general clinical oversight per CARF), providing support and guidance on clinical issues based on agency needs.
  • Participate in various leadership meetings to problem solve issues, review reports and metrics, as well as ongoing communication and collaboration with other departments.
  • Partner with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization's human resource and talent strategy, particularly as it relates to current and future staffing needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
  • Participate in Interview and Onboarding Process for new hires.
  • Maintain Annual Performance Evaluation for all NP's
  • Review pay period/caseload reports during supervision.
  • In supervision, consistently address the following areas:
  • Retention Strategies
  • Volume
  • No-Show Rates
    • Compliance
    • Documentation
    • Medical Decision Making
    • Referrals for various additional services.
    • Discharge Summaries as needed.
    • Assess the client's physical, mental, and emotional health and make recommendations accordingly.
    • Diagnose clients based on individual history, symptoms, and behaviors. Prescribe medications in accordance with treatment guidelines.
    • Advise on level of care, treatment goals, and other needed services (examples include writing referrals for other programs, making hospitalization submissions, and ordering for laboratory tests).
    • Educate clients regarding medications (and other behaviors), including risks, side-effects, benefits and reasonable outcome expectations for medication usage. ? Provide psychiatric health services, education, counseling and emotional support to clients as needed.
    • Complete all documentation timely and accurately.
    • Communicate consistently with the client's treatment team in regards to scheduling, documentation, and client care.
    • Maintain scheduled client appointments based on agreed-upon schedule. ? Assist with mental health emergencies as needed.
    • Be a positive representative of the organization by upholding standard messaging and its brand to clients, internal and external providers, referring partners, community affiliates, and any other external third party.
    • Attend scheduled meetings and trainings on-time as assigned; or make efforts to communicate any tardiness or absenteeism.
    • Deliver quality of care and documentation in line with the local, state, and federal government laws; the policies and expectations of accreditation bodies, including but not limited to, CARF and COMAR; and the clinical standards and expectations of the organization.
    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Proficient knowledge of current research and literature about psychiatric medications and effects of usage.
    • Must be able to strategically, logically and realistically analyze, evaluate and develop solutions for client's medication needs.
    • Ability to deliver quality of care in line with the local, state, and federal government laws. ? Ability to deliver quality of care in line with the policies and expectations of accreditation bodies such as CARF.
    • The ability to effectively build relationships with individuals of all ages, ethnicity, education, and work experience.
    • Respect for individual differences and multicultural diversity.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal and therapeutic skills.
    • Strong technology skills to input clinical documentation in EMR and administrative coordination.

    EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
    • Minimum of Masters Degree in Nursing required
    • Minimum of 4 years Supervisory Experience supervising board Certified Psychiatric Nurses with Mental Health Population
    REQUIRED CERTIFICATION OR LICENSE:
    • Required to be licensed to practice independently and prescribe medicine in the state of Maryland by possessing at least one of the following:
    • A nurse psychotherapist (APRN-PMH);
    • A pediatric nurse practitioner with a PMHS;
    • A nurse practitioner-psychiatric (CRNP-PMH);
    • A physician who demonstrates the competency to provide specialty mental health services;
    • A psychiatrist certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or possessing the minimum educational and training requirements to take the Board of Psychiatry and Neurology examination for certification in psychiatry.
    • CPR and First Aid Certified
    • Credentialed as an in-network provider for Medicaid or ability to be credentialed within six months of hire.
    PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
    • Must have the ability to stay in a stationary position for long periods of time
    • Must have the ability to occasionally move about the office
    • Must be able to remain in a stationary position; occasionally walk, stand or stoop; communicate and converse with others to exchange accurate information.
    Salary Description $118,000 to $125,000
