Are you an experienced and dedicated Registered Nurse with expertise in Psychiatric Nursing? SUNY Niagara invites you to make a meaningful impact by teaching future nursing professionals enrolled in our LPN Certificate and RN AAS programs. This role is ideal for an RN with a passion for mental health who wants to shape the next generation of psychiatric care providers.
As a Psychiatric Nursing Assistant Professor, you will teach core psychiatric content and practices, providing students with essential skills to care for individuals with mental health conditions. Your work will include classroom instruction, clinical supervision, and lab-based learning experiences to fully prepare students for this crucial area of healthcare. This position will also be responsible for student advisement, and participation in divisional and college activities. Teaching assignments are primarily during the day, with some evening and weekend opportunities.
The base salary of $67,953 per year equates to $59.92 per hour given the 162-day professional obligation of the position. In addition to the base salary, there are many ways to increase the salary further by teaching overload, teaching summer courses, doing special assignments etc. The average salary in this position with overloads and other assignments is $73,000. There is a tenure track pathway for promotion to higher level salaries of Associate Professor and Professor.
The successful candidate will only be required to work 162 days per academic year (August - May) and will be provided with a winter break from mid-December to early January, and a Spring Break for one week in mid-March.
Selected candidates may be eligible to receive fully paid tuition scholarship to earn a Master's of Science in Nursing Education.

Essential Functions

Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and enrolled in a Master's of Science in Nursing program.
* Proof that one has completed all requirements for a Master's of Science with a major in Nursing within 18 months of starting the position
* Current Registered Nurse license;
* Nursing clinical experience or teaching experience in nursing within the last 5 years
Desirable Qualifications
* Master's degree or Doctorate in Nursing
* Classroom, lab, or clinical teaching experience in a nursing program in a community college
* Teaching or clinical experience in a technology-enhanced classroom
* Experience using a course management system such as Brightspace
