Description:Stony Brook University is the premier academic medical center in Suffolk County, New York. The University Hospital offers the community state-of-the-art care including for patients presenting with acute psychiatric problems. Services include the only Suffolk County Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP).

A clinician is needed to serve as an Overnight Attending Psychiatrist in our Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP). The Clinical Assistant Professor will be responsible for psychiatric evaluation and management of patients in CPEP/ED of University Hospital. The Clinical Assistant Professor will also be responsible for teaching and supervision of medical students and residents.

Schedule: Shifts totaling 40 hours per week which will consist of 4 overnight shifts from 10:30pm-8:00am or Shifts totaling 80 hours bi-weekly which will consist of 3 12-hour overnight shifts, and a 8 hour day shift every other week, along with cross coverage as necessary for both schedules. QualificationsRequired Qualifications:MD/DO (or foreign equivalent). New York State license or eligibility. Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Adult Psychiatry.

Preferred Qualifications:Clinical experience with Psychiatric patients in a Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program or other Psychiatric Emergency Setting. Track record of Research experience in Emergency psychiatry. Track record in teaching experience in Emergency psychiatry. Training in Child Psychiatry.
