Position Summary: The Psychiatrist is responsible for working with patients, families to diagnose, develop and administer psychotherapeutic treatments or medications to mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders. This position is responsible for consulting with members of the behavioral health and medical teams as well as providing direct patient care. Responsibilities: • Treat patients using psychological therapies • Collaborate with physicians, social workers, and other member of the team to discuss and develop treatment plans • Analyze and evaluate patient data or test findings to diagnose nature or extent of mental disorders. • Maintains accurate and confidential historical patient records by consistently using electronic medical record systems. • Provides health teaching to patients and families, participates in development and delivery of educational programs for area health care providers. • Promotes staff learning by providing training and discussions regarding the interrelationship between psychosocial and physiological problems, psychotropic medications, crisis intervention, and related issues. • Participate in compliance audits and quality improvement plans. • Any other duties assigned. Skills/Qualifications: • Previous experience working with an FQHC a plus, not required • Ability to collaborate across multiple healthcare disciplines • At least 3 year experience working as a Psychiatrist Required Education and Experience: • Completion of residency in psychiatry • Must be board eligible or board certification by the American Psychiatric Association • Current licensure in New York State as a psychiatrist is required Comprehensive Benefits: Health / Dental /Vision Insurance Retirement Plan Tuition Reimbursement Public Service Loan Forgiveness Generous Time Off
