Overview Prevents or eliminates symptomatic, maladaptive, or undesired behaviors and enhances interpersonal relationships, work and life adjustment, personal effectiveness, behavioral health, and mental health in individuals, families, and groups by observation, description, evaluation, interpretation, and modification of human behavior by the application of psychological principles, methods, and procedures within the boundaries of their competence, based on their documented education, training, supervised experience, state and national professional credentials, and appropriate professional experience. Qualifications EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT As per Oklahoma Statues and Regulations, The possession of a doctoral degree from an area related to psychology does not qualify one for licensure as a psychologist. Shall have a doctoral degree in psychology based upon a curriculum from an institution regionally accredited by the American Psychological Association and recognized by the U.S. Department of Education consisting of at least three academic years, which shall be defined as 90 semester hours (excluding internship credit), leading to said degree and meet all of the following criteria: (1) The doctoral program, wherever it may be administratively housed, must be clearly identified and labeled as a psychology program. Such a program must specify in pertinent institutional catalogs and brochures its intent to educate and train psychologists. (2) The psychology program must stand as a recognizable coherent organizational entity within the institution. (3) There must be clear authority and primary responsibility for the core and specialty areas whether or not the program cuts across administrative lines. (4) The program must be an integrated, organized sequence of study. (5) The program must have an identifiable psychology faculty and a psychologist responsible for the program. (6) The program must have an identifiable body of students who are matriculated in that program for a degree. Practica and an internship experience are required and must have completed two (2) years of supervised professional experience satisfactory to the OSBEP. The two years of experience must be as a psychologist and in line with the applicant's major program of study for the doctoral degree. One (1) year of which shall be postdoctoral compatible with the knowledge and skills acquired during formal doctoral or postdoctoral education in accordance with professional requirements and relevant to the intended area of practice. One year of the two can be a pre-doctoral internship if in the areas of clinical, counseling, or school psychology. Prior to initiating role as supervisor, obtains supervisory training. COMPUTER SKILLS To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating. Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care. Possess and maintains a Psychologist License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Examiners of Psychologists (OSBEP). Possess and maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. Must have approval from the OSBEP to supervise the Psychologist Under Supervision. Must possess and maintain approval from the Board of the candidate which they are to supervise. Must possess and maintain certification and training for any assessment that requires it to be administered and interpreted. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Skills in program development, scientific research, and grant writing skills. Ability to speak Cherokee a plus. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS Employee must not and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE). PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. WORK ENVIRONMENT The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
