The Psychometrist's role is focused on supporting Psychologists who provide PsychologicalTesting. The Psychometrist helps to schedule clients for testing and administers and scorespsychological tests with clients. In some instances, and for some Psychologists thePsychometrist may also assist in recording and interpreting test results under Psychologistsupervision. This is a critical support role that enables an efficient, accurate and patient-centricprocess for psychological testing services. This role is part time in West Des Moines, Iowa.RequirementsDuties/Responsibilities: -Administer and score neuropsychological, psychological, personality and academic testsunder the supervision of a psychological evaluator.-Ensure that patients referred for testing services are seen in a timely manner-Maintain standardization procedures, and when necessary, test the limits as instructedby the supervising psychologist-Provide a written summary of the patient's behavior during testing, including anyinteraction with the patient's parents, family, or peers that may be observedincidentally-Administer behavioral and functional protocols for parents, spouse/ partner, or otherancillary informants-Create data tables as requested by the supervising psychologist-Interact with the supervising psychologist regularly through various communicationchannels, communicating questions, concerns, or other issues-Write progress notes in the medical record to keep personnel informed of the status ofthe testing process and to help document hours/time for testing log-As it relates to patient care:-Interact in a therapeutic and standardized manner with patients of all ages-Maintain good relationships with parents and other caregivers-Demonstrate a proven ability to manage difficult or challenging behaviors withcalmness, patience and respect-Seek out supervision as needed in situations that include active refusal, aggression, anger or other defiant/rebellious behaviors-Use active listening techniques to interact with disgruntled patients or familymembers-Protect patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal information andadhering to HIPAA standards-Attend training conferences offered by the department as well as by outsideorganizations-Review and ensure timeliness, accuracy, availability and security of information-Assist in training practicum students and graduate psychometrists-Acclimate new students and psychometrists to the psychometrist position and thecollaborative relationship.-Assist in completing and tracking prior authorizations, as needed, for service forinsurance companies-May assist with psychological testing intake process if patient volume is low-Perform other duties as assigned Required Skills/Abilities: -Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Honest and forthright communicationis necessary.-Excellent writing and grammatical skills with an ability to present complex data in a clear,concise text-Excellent organizational skills, time management, prioritization and attention to detail-Ability to meet deadlines and to work independently, be self-motivated and a self-starter;ability to follow-through, track and complete tasks as assigned-Ability to edit and proofread work of colleagues-Proficient with Microsoft software and MWI's EHR-Understanding of descriptive statistics, including measures of central tendency, and howto select appropriate testing norms-Demonstrated ability to solve problems and generate new ideas (process improvement,communication, etc) and demonstrate aptitude for self-correction, attention to detail andquality of work-Demonstrated ability to listen to feedback from others and actively seek out ways toimprove performance-Ability to handle an intensive and demanding workload-Willingness to learn aspects of other positions, help as needed for special projects andcapacity to interact productively with other staff members Education and Experience: -A minimum of a bachelor's degree in psychology or related field required, Master'sdegree preferred-Training by a Psychologist and proficiency demonstrated in psychological testadministration and scoring as determined by a Psychologist, at a minimum, with relevantcoursework in Psychological testing preferred but not required. Physical Requirements: •Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer•Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
