Status: Per Diem Shift: 10 HOUR DAY SHIFT Department: Outpatient Dialysis Position Summary Summary:The Hemodialysis Patient Care Technician is a member of the nursing staff who provides patient care under the direction of a registered nurse. Is cognizant of the philosophy, standards, objectives and policies of the Department and the Hospital. Qualifications Responsibilities:Education Required • Must complete in-house orientation program • High school graduation or equivalent required. Experience And Skills • Excellent interpersonal skills • Speaks, reads and writes English • Hemodialysis technician training course required. • Dialysis experience strongly preferred. License/Certifications • Certification required for employees with 18-months of HPCT experience. Acceptable certifications include: State Hemodialysis PCT certification or BONENT certification or CCHT certification by the Nephrology Nursing Commission or CCNT. • BLS certification for the Health Care Provider by the American Heart Association Working Conditions Other information:Working Conditions • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) worn • Primarily standing. • Ability to bend, transport patients from wheelchair and stretcher to dialysis chair and bed. • Able to lift 50 lbs. • Walk distances from within unit and throughout the hospital. Escort patients to and from unit.
