Description In accordance with Pace Career Services' mission to help every student find a great job and build the foundation of a successful career no matter who they are, who they know, and what they are majoring in, the part-time Career Counselor will provide career counseling and career preparation, including internship, co-op, and job placement assistance to all undergraduate and graduate domestic and international students along with recent alumni across all majors. Located on Pace's New York, NYC campus, the position provides services to students and graduates from both the NYC campuses and PLV campuses. The position is currently hybrid (2 days per week on-site and 1 day per week virtual), subject to change as business demands necessitate. Position Duties
- Perform 1:1 career counseling and preparation including but not limited to resume and cover letter reviews and approvals, interview preparation, digital branding, job search strategies, career exploration and testing.
- Conduct regular career-related workshops and programs in person and virtually, across multi-platforms.
- Conceptualize, plan, and implement special programs and events for students and recent alumni.
- Market Career Services programs and services to students, recent alumni, faculty and staff through regular and varied outreach and communications.
- Host weekly office hours and Drop-in Hours for students and recent alumni at the Paton House and at the department hub.
- Attend and contribute to team, department, and assigned committee meetings as scheduled.
- Represent department at Pace University events including orientations, admissions events, information sessions, career fairs and external events.
- Participate in data collection campaigns and special projects as determined by Career Services management.
- In accordance with the service standards set forth as part of Pace University's Service Standard Initiative, I MAKE IT HAPPEN , be accessible, respectful, professional, accountable, and proactive in all interactions with students as measured by existing department surveys.
- Performs other such duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Position Qualifications
- Master's degree in counseling, education, human resource management or related field required.
- At least two years of experience working within higher education, counseling, human services, recruiting or business related field.
- Superior communication, presentation, writing, problem solving, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of the business community and job market trends.
- Strong technical skills with knowledge of Windows based computer applications.
- Internet resources and web recruiting software.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse student body including non-traditional and international students, as well as with internal and external constituencies.
- Knowledge of career development theory and application.
- Commitment to working in a team-based collaborative environment.
- Experience working in Diversity & Inclusion in a higher education or employer environment desired.
Work Hours Hours may alternate depending upon department needs, but not to exceed 20 hours per week. Also, nights and weekends as needed for high traffic periods, campus events, Career Services programs, Admissions events, data collection campaigns and special projects as determined by the AVP and/or Director.
