Job Type Part-timeDescriptionEssential Duties 1. Work with each participant to meet the goals they have set for themselves in their Person-Centered Individual Program Plan/Person Centered Individual Service Plan.2. Provide training/active treatment to each participant that will enhance their daily living skills; meal preparation, household chores, money management, shopping, communication skills, social skills and positive behaviors.3. Provide or assist participants with meeting their personal hygiene needs including bathing, nail care, shaving, oral care, toileting and dressing.4. Strictly adhere to each participant's risk plan, dining plan, wellness plan and, if applicable, seizure plan.5. May be required to provide transportation for participants to medical appointments, social outings and other scheduled activities.6. Provide and/or assist with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting participants into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc. (as needed).7. Attend 90 day, annual, or IDT meetings if requested.8. For each shift worked document all required information including: services rendered per each participant's PCISP/PCIPP, any significant issues involving the participant requiring intervention by a health care professional, case manager, behavior specialist or BDDS staff and documentation of one or more distinct actions or behaviors for each participant served during the shift.9. Complete all required forms for each participant, i.e. behavior tracking, task element progress, sleep tracking.10. If a participant chooses not to participate in the upkeep of their home, including meal prep and personal care, it is the staff's responsibility to make sure the home is an appropriate environment.11. Assist in the update of each participant's property list as needed.12. Assist in the upkeep of all participants' financial records in the home. This includes all participants' cash ledgers, budget sheets, and receipts. Submit these items to the fiscal department as required.13. Conduct monthly safety drills according to the Safety and Security Procedures.14. Provide medical assistance to participants as needed. Regularly complete all required medical routines and documentation. Address participants' medical issues proactively.15. Assist participants with operation, usage, and maintenance of adaptive devices.16. Administer medications as directed and document appropriately using the Electronic Medication Administration program or paper MAR if necessary.17. Routinely promote the mission and values of KCARC through personal example, providing educational opportunities, communicating with honesty, inviting input and expecting mutual accountability.18. Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times, as well as a positive attitude within the work environment.19. Be able to frequently lift 75 pounds independently and over 75 pounds with assistance.20. Follow all policies, procedures or regulations set by local, state and federal regulatory agencies, including ISO standards.21. All other duties deemed necessary.RequirementsQualifications: 1.Maintain reliable transportation available for use during working hours, valid driver's license and provide proof of automobile liability coverage (insurance). This qualification may be waived at the discretion of the Director of Human Resources.2. Possess ability to maintain flexible schedule to meet the demands of the department.3. Maintain good hygiene.4. Adhere to a dress code.5. Possess ability to assist with full spectrum of participant's personal care needs.6. Possess the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.7. Possess the ability to use tact and empathy when dealing with people of varied backgrounds.8. Possess the ability to establish effective working relationships.9. Possess the ability to work independently and in a team environment.10. Be Computer literate.11. Accept responsibility and demonstrate leadership.12. Be able to multitask effectively in a sometimes fast paced environment.Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred. One year experience working with participants with developmental disabilities and three years of driving experience is preferred. Certifications/Licenses/Registrations: Medication Administration: Core A and Core B for Group Home only; other staff must be trained in medication administration and side effects by a nurse and show competency.CPR/First Aid. Physical Demands: The employee must be able to perform the essential duties of this job. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level is usually moderate but occasionally loud. Use of Personal Protective Equipment such as vinyl or latex gloves is occasionally required.
