Lane Campus with Collegiate Preparatory High School. The Student/ Family Engagement Specialist will work as a member of the School Team to ensure that all students and families optimize all programs and initiatives that are available to them as members of the Multicultural community.Our Team offers a holistic approach toward improving academic performance driven by strong and collaborative partnerships among principals, parents, teachers, and CBOs. In our work, parents are real and active partners in their children's education. The school climate is joyful and positive. Expanded learning opportunities are standard. An integral part of this approach is the integration and alignment of school- and community-based services, such as health, mental health, counseling and academic enrichment. Principal Duties:•Develop, promote, and oversee programs and initiatives designed to support scholars' civic, social, emotional, and academic development•Coordinate the DBT (Dialectical behavior therapy) using the DBT curriculum.•Collaborate with CHCP CBO partners to help streamline attendance improvement programming including but not limited to (ELT, SYEP, Baccalaureate Program, and School-Based Health Center)•Plan and implement school events that support CHCP core values which are Growth,Responsibility, Integrity and Thoughtful Communication (GRIT); implement GRIT bucks system and GRIT store•Develop strong, trusting relationships with students, teachers, and families. Buildrelationships with professionals and organizations in the Cypress Hills community and across New York City, concentrating efforts on agencies who meet the need of the CHCP students•Play an active role in school events and initiatives that support student enrollment,attendance and graduation including but not limited to: monthly town halls, hosting open houses, and monthly cohort meetings.•Support all school teams with implementation of Family Engagement programming and events at Cypress Hills Collegiate Prep•Inform families of community resources that could provide needed assistance and work closely with the Community Resource coordinator to continually develop and update a community resource guide•Actively participate in all data collection processes including inputting information into required databases and sharing it with the staff and school administration•Updating the school bulletin boards once a month with all data and upcoming events.•Manage and maintain the schools social media accounts•Demonstrate a commitment to school reform work•Represent program to funders; meet all reporting requirements for funding sources•Demonstrate commitment to leadership development, community building, and community organizing as strategies for social change•Attend all required division and agency meetings•Other duties as requestedRequirements:
- Bachelor's degree•Bi-lingual Spanish Preferred, written and verbal•Demonstrated experience working in an educational, social service, or family support service setting•Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills to work and interact effectively with a diverse community of stakeholders•A self-starting team player with excellent organizational skills•Experience with social media•Familiar with the community and support agencies•Flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the students, teachers, and families
- Flexible hours to accommodate work in the evening and some weekends•Experience working with families that have diverse cultures and economic backgrounds•Tech savvy and proficient in computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office programs: Outlook, Word, Excel, SmartBoard and PowerPoint•Comfortable speaking in front of large groups of professionals and parents•Experience in establishing and maintaining collaborative professional relationships
