The Minority Student Liaison will serve as the primary point person and contact for students of color at Moody. He/She will also serve as an advisor to the President and the Provost on matters related to not only students, but staff and faculty of color being able to fulfill God's call on their lives to embody and proclaim the gospel for every person. The Minority Student Liaison will work collaboratively with the Vice President and Dean of Student Life and members of the Dean's Council within Student Life and the Provost Cabinet within the Education Branch at Moody on the implementation of systems and structures within each school at Moody that enhance Moody's educational vision train and equip men and women to live on mission regardless of where they get their paycheck. Essential Functions
- Provide support, planning, and organization for the mentoring of ethnic, minority and international first-year students to involve them more directly in the intellectual and social life on all of Moody's campuses.
- Ensure that students of color are properly advocated and supported.
- Plan, develop, and support multicultural awareness, providing students the opportunity to present programs pertaining to diversity.
- Assess current programs and populations regarding diversity issues and use those assessments to propose and develop new initiatives.
- Lead a cross-functional change management effort to design and implement solutions that shift personal behavior on the issues of racial justice and equity to deliver sustainable performance improvements over time.
- Successfully work with a wide variety of constituents in the college to assess programmatic needs that support greater awareness of diversity issues on campus.
- Raise sensitivity to issues pertaining to cultural differences of international student needs to faculty and staff.
- Develop workforce equity strategies, policies, training, and investments that address historical and current harms to employees and students of color and create systems that support an environment that honors and glorifies God and His kingdom.
- Oversee, collaborate with and support professors, deans, and instructional staff on their own professional development with identifying ways they can broaden course material and recommend and expand more diverse resources to faculty.
- Research best practices in diversity initiatives and use those findings to inform decisions.
- Be a resource on multicultural issues for faculty in their work with students and in their development of curriculum, systems, and programs.
- Work with HR on recruitment and retention of staff of color.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Master's degree in education
- Commitment to, knowledge of and experiences with multicultural education and community service programming, leadership development, and student activities; and values compatible with and supportive of Moody's mission as a Christian biblically grounded university.
- Strong biblical foundation in the Christian faith
- Experiences with organizational leadership, development, and student life/programming
- Leadership bent of a vision/implementer (someone who not only has the innate ability to see and articulate vision but also the innate ability and experience to step by step strategically develop and implement a plan that helps the organization achieve that vision).
- Authorized to work in the US legally without sponsorship
