PT Training SpecialistDepartment/Location: Police Training UnitFLSA Status: Non-exemptBargaining Unit: NoneClassification: Non-EssentialSchedule: This position will work a 30 hour workweek.Supervision Exercised: NoneSupervision Received: Works under the direction of and is responsible to the Training Supervisor. General Purpose of the Position: The purpose of this position is one of training and support within the Bradenton Police Training Unit. The position will be responsible for creating various lesson plans which support specialized and assigned programs within the Bradenton Police department that align with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, accreditation, and best work practice applications. This position will also observe/analyze problems nationally and locally to assist with effective proactive initiatives. Work tasks will involve a wide variety of office organizational skills such as filing, managing and inspecting both digital and paper content as well as a creative aspect for educational lecture and hands on solution-based presentations. This position will conduct extensive agency wide training. Successful applicants for this position will be required to obtain and keep Florida Department of Law Enforcement General and High Liability Instructor / Specialized (Vehicle Operations, Defensive Tactics, Medical First Responder, CPR, Firearms, etc.) teaching certificates. This position will also conduct extensive research, work with outside subject matter experts, and other agencies to ensure that all Federal, State, accreditation and nationwide best practices are followed. Successful applicants will work closely with training academy / center staff to host required training courses. Applicants with law enforcement and law enforcement training experience are preferred, however not mandatory. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assists in providing and conducting technical and/or training programs and courses. Coordinate training to support actionable standardization and guidelines for scenario-based training. Work with other divisions on training specifically with FTO issues for field-based training. Develops and updates new employee training curriculum. Periodically evaluate ongoing programs to ensure that they reflect up to date information. Assists in maintaining, filing, and retaining training records for accreditation according to Standard Operating Procedures and Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Skills and Physical Abilities Required: Working understanding of Law Enforcement training requirements and applicable laws to include Florida Department of Law Enforcement classes and certification of classroom instruction. Advanced understanding of training needs and the ability to process and manage file forms and other documentation. Successful at developing and improving training agendas. Knowledgeable in developing, instructing and documenting varies training courses to maintain certification and maintain curriculum standards. Clear communication and writing skills. Working knowledge of essential computer technology to support working curriculum for training purposes. Ability to conduct extensive in-depth research related to new/current standards, equipment and best practices for law enforcement. Computer Equipment and Software requirements: Experience with Word, Excel, Power Point, Microsoft Office, Adobe Products and FDLE Automated Training Management System.Education and Experience Required: Graduation from an accredited (2) year college with a degree or law enforcement experience. Environment Conditions: Inside an office and outside field training. Ability to adjust schedule on an as needed basis depending on training cycle and requirements.
