Job Description:
The physical therapy assistant (PTA) performs physical therapy procedures and related tasks that have been selected and delegated only by a supervising physical therapist (PT). The PTA uses their knowledge and skills to help the physical therapist provide selected interventions as described in the patient s plan of care. The PTA uses their clinical problem solving skills to ensure patient/client safety and comfort, as well as completion of interventions selected to achieve the patient s desired outcomes and goals. Our PTA s demonstrate effective communication and strong interpersonal skills to motivate patients and provide compassionate care.Adheres to the APTA Code of Ethics.Appropriately carries out treatment as directed by the supervising physical therapist.Able to provide a variety of treatment approaches utilizing appropriate manual techniques and available equipment and modalities.Maintain and consistently demonstrate competency in all areas of assigned client care needs and seeks out additional information, in-service or other educational opportunities to remain competent and current in practice.Document patient progress according to approved medical documentation and facility documentation procedures to best describe client progress toward established goals.Maintain patient records, ensuring that Certifications and Authorizations are in compliance with third party payer requirements.Functions independently within the scope of the PTA Practice Act.Provides individualized patient and caregiver educationAppropriately modifies treatment in response to patient progress and keeps the PT informed of changes in status and overall progress.Assists other facility staff members as needed to provide care and create a clean, orderly and effective environment for rehabilitation and physical therapy.SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS2+ Years of PTA Experience - RequiredBLS (AHA) - RequiredIL License - RequiredStrong background in TKR, THR is preferable Experience in a busy outpatient clinic is preferable Profile Requirements: Work historySkills Checklist, current to 1 year, pertinent to the specialty2 Supervisory References with dates employed listedCandidates' Permanent Address (Facility will not consider local candidates - 50-mile radius restriction)ABOUT THE FACILITYSarah Bush Lincoln is a prominent non-profit healthcare organization located in downstate Illinois.
