The Process Development Technician is responsible for carrying out the assignments required by the Process Technology Development team to meet the need of Manufacturing, Quality, and Commercial teams, as well other Fujifilm divisions as needed. These responsibilities include hands-on manufacture as well as coordination of products, equipment and department operation as it relates to Technical Service activities at the New Castle Site.

FFIC Inc. has a manufacturing site in New Castle, DE where aqueous dyes, RxD, and inks are made to support the InkJet digital printing market.
NATURE OF POSITION:
Working under the general direction of the PTD Manager and or the PTD Chemist, the Development Technician is responsible for projects involving a multitude of operations ranging from lab to proto-scale development, customer sample preparation, small scale proto batches, operation of laboratory instruments & equipment, formulation of aqueous inks, manufacturing support/troubleshooting, and external Fujifilm aqueous R&D support. Projects and activities will generally be focused on either existing toll ink manufacturing support, or new business development projects for Fujifilm branded aqueous inks. Within the lab scale or wet lab assets under the purview of the PTD group, some ink batch preparations may also fall within commercial saleable quantities to support the business, which must adhere to all quality system and standards applicable for routine manufacturing processes.
As the function of the PTD group is linked to the manufacturing unit in a supportive role, the incumbent is required to keep abreast of the daily production issues and responds as needed in a troubleshooting capacity, as well as support longer term development projects/issues.
Some projects and activities may involve instrument operation to support the needs of the business with respect to aqueous RxD products and troubleshooting.
Documentation of all work carried out is expected. Incumbent will receive training on processes and equipment operation from an experienced technician and or Development Chemist.
This position has an EHS requirement. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that a safe workplace is maintained, will participate in regular safety audits and inspections, and will also periodically participate in EHS Committee lab tours. The Development Technician is required to maintain on-site chemical/product storage inventories for the group and proper material disposal in accordance of site EHS policy. Position also requires a pro-active participation in the 5S, Continuous Improvements program, and Near Miss reporting.
