We are currently seeking a Public Affairs Specialist to join our team in Washington, District of Columbia (US-DC), United States (US).

Position Responsibilities:

* Manage national and international requests for information and interviews from the publishing, motion picture, television, radio, and entertainment industries.

* Be involved in developing/executing public awareness media campaigns (as needed).

* Provide information to internal and external requesters as well as the public, ensuring accuracy and completeness, and proactively developing contacts and projects that will enhance the role and mission of the FBI in operational and investigative matters.

* Assist in planning and coordinating the dissemination of information relating to the organization's programs, objectives, and functions through national and international media.

* Develop and write informational materials designed to reach local and national audiences through media outlets.

* Develop communications plans by considering such items as specific topics, aspects to emphasize, most effective media to use in communicating with intended audiences, kind of information various groups want or need, etc.

* Evaluate the impact and effectiveness of communication plans and advise management if efforts should be discontinued, emphasis changed, or coverage expanded to improve intercommunication between the organization and various audiences through media utilization.

* Establish and develop effective relationships with members of the media and public affairs personnel of specialized groups and determine ways the organization can work more closely with media and groups in communicating with audiences interested in or affected by programs.

* Establish and maintain effective working relationships and coordinate with community groups and other stakeholders encountered in the performance of duties.

* Effectively define and track customer interactions or metrics using customer relationship management or similar processes or systems.

Basic Qualifications:

* Active Top Secret Clearance required.

* Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Public Affairs, Journalism, or a related field.

* Minimum 3 years of experience in the communications field to include:

* Minimum 3 years of experience establishing and maintaining relationships with members of the media and public relations personnel.

* Minimum 3 years of experience pitching, briefing, cold calling, and intake of fast turnaround taskings.

* Minimum 3 years of experience drafting and analyzing communications materials and plans to include press releases, short public statements, talking points/remarks for presenters, and public affairs guidance.

* Minimum 3 years of experience organizing, planning, and managing press conferences.

* Minimum 3 years of experience leading mock interviews, using camera/studio lighting/backdrops, and coaching high-ranking officials through media engagement.

* Minimum 3 years of experience as an independent contributor and/or project manager, to include planning and managing complex projects and representing department or organization at public facing events and conferences.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Knowledge of and familiarity with major national media outlets (TV and print), reporters, producers, editors, etc

* Strong oral and written communication skills to convey detailed information on programs, policies, and significant issues, using a variety of formats (public speaking, social media, e-mail, telephone calls, etc.)

* Experience presenting and developing communication strategies on sensitive material, reports, and/or charging documents

* Demonstrated experience with the principles, methods, practices and techniques of communication and public affairs

* Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining relationships with senior-level executives and briefing them on institution priorities

* Demonstrated experience monitoring the progress and evaluating the effectiveness of communication/public relation strategies

* Experience leading mock interviews, using camera/studio lighting/backdrops, and coaching high-ranking officials through media engagements

* Experience with federal law enforcement policies and procedures
