Job Description and Duties
COVID-19 Mandate
Pursuant to the Public Health Orders (Guidance for the Use of Face Coverings and State and Local Correctional Facilities and Detention Centers Health Care Worker Vaccination Requirement) issued by the California Department of Public Health and the directive Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccines and Testing for Institution Staff issued by the Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation (CDCR), all staff assigned to this post/position may be required to show evidence of full vaccination and booster for COVID-19, absent an approved reasonable medical or religious accommodation precluding them from vaccination.
Pursuant to the Public Health Orders (Guidance for the Use of Face Coverings) issued by the California Department of Public Health and the directive Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccines and Testing for Institutional Staff issued by the Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation (CDCR), all staff who work in correctional settings who are unvaccinated, partially vaccinated, or have not provided a record of full vaccination shall undergo twice-weekly COVID testing with at least 72 hours between each test.
Masks must be worn in accordance with local requirements, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) requirements, and directive (Required COVID-19 facial coverings for all institutional and facility staff) issued by CDCR.
Under the supervision of the Supervising Registered Nurse II/III, Correctional Facility (CF), the Public Health Nurse (PHN) I, CF assists in planning, coordinating, and evaluating the institutional public health and infection control programs at basic institutions. The PHN I, CF provides technical assistance to institutional staff in the implementation of infectious disease control policies and procedures and conducts epidemiological investigations with the assistance and guidance of the Public Health Branch, California Correctional Health Care Services. The PHN I, CF, in collaboration with the health care team, ensures the delivery of appropriate and timely health care to patients and coordinates interdisciplinary communication to promote continuity of care. The PHN I, CF is responsible for addressing the ongoing health care needs of patients and promoting the timely, efficient, and appropriate use of health care resources.

Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a current license as a Registered Nurse in California and a current certificate as a Public Health Nurse in California. (Applicants who do not meet these requirements will be admitted to the examination, but they must secure the required license and certificate before they will be considered eligible for appointment.)
All applicants must meet the minimum qualifications (MQ's) of the classification, per SPB Rule 250, with the exception of Training & Development (T&D) Assignment.
Please note: It is up to the hiring authority to accept Training and Development (T&D) assignments. If you are interested in a T&D assignment, you are not required to meet MQs; however, you must indicate T&D as your eligibility when applying.
