Type:Full TimeSalary/Pay Rate:$62,000-$72,000/yearPosted Date:02/05/2024 11:32 AM Health Department Grant-Funded The public health nurse is responsible for managing the daily public health nursing activities for the performance of core public health functions and the delivery of the 10 essential public health services at N.J.A.C. 8:52-3.2(a) 1 through 10, and shall ensure the coordination of public health nursing services which are delivered by all agencies in Somerset County as described in its Community Health Improvement Plan so as to identify gaps, provide continuity of services, and reduce duplication. This position works with other LINCS team members and public health partners, to ensure that all parties thoroughly understand the reportable communicable disease regulations, cases/incidents, and the notification and response protocols. Essential Qualifications The Major Responsibilities fall into one of the following general functional areas: Community Public Health * Provide community public health nursing services consistent with NJAC 8:52 (Public Health Practice Standards)* Provide clinical services for adults, children, and babies with regard to wellness and immunizations* Provide other services as directed related to the Best Practice Guidelines NJAC 8:52 Appendix A Disease Investigation and Reporting * Disease investigation and reporting consistent with NJAC 8:57 including:* Routine and outbreak disease investigation for municipalities served* Work with community partners on issues directly related to communicable or infectious diseases during the preparation, response, and recovery phases Infectious Disease Response (i.e. COVID-19, Monkeypox, Polio or other infectious disease) * Assist other Health Department staff with an infectious disease response activities as necessary* Perform clinical functions or any other necessary task at a COVID 19 immunization clinic as directed Other Duties As Assigned Essential Functions * Two (2) years of experience in nursing. Public health nursing preferred.* Applicants must possess a current, valid registration as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey.* In depth knowledge of public health regulations, procedures, and responsibilities of specific public health concerns, basic knowledge of theories, methods and practices, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Federal, State and Local Officials, County Department Heads, employees, public health professionals, media personnel, and the general public.* Ability to read, write, and speaks English sufficiently to perform the duties of the position.* Proficient in word processing, spreadsheet and data base computer applications, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel and Access.* Must possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey.* A thorough knowledge of County policy and procedures.
