Job Description: The participant will work under the direction of the Vice President of Communications & Digital Media and the Public Relations and Social Media Coordinator and will be introduced to the public relations and digital media activities of a professional sports team.Candidates should have flexible schedules to be at the arena for practices and morning skates, community events in the evening and all home games.Objective/Goals: The intern will obtain various skills through hands-on experience and will be able to perform all game day media and public relations activities, develop quality written and oral communications with the media and coordinate special promotional and community involvement projects. Responsibilities:
- Research and compile statistical information on the American Hockey League and Syracuse Crunch
- Write press releases and feature stories
- Perform game day media tasks
- Assist in the continual upkeep and design of the team's official website
- Assist with set-up and follow through of player appearances
- Assist in providing content for the team's official social media accounts
- Provide excellent customer service to the Crunch fan base and general public
- Work home games and events as necessary
- Perform other duties as assigned in the areas of hockey relations, marketing and advertising
Qualifications:
- Enrolled undergraduate or graduate level student pursuing a degree in sport management, marketing, communications, business or related field
- Strong creative, organizational, written and verbal communication skills
- Must have excellent attention to detail
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience in sports preferred, but not necessary
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends
Time:
- 10-20 hours per week (negotiable)
- Duration of the 2024-25 Syracuse Crunch Season
Compensation:This is a non-paid internship. When negotiated with each individual college, credit will be granted.
