- Performing general station maintenance
- Maintaining equipment
- Maintaining fire hydrants
- Participating in training as well as performing and assisting in fire fighting on an assigned 24 hour shift
Minimum Qualifications
- Must have a valid SC driver's license
- Be enrolled in an accredited college program with a minimum 2.0 GPA, and have a financial need
- Must meet requirements of SC Fire Training Academy, and pass written and physical agility tests

RetirementFull-time employees participate in the Defined Contribution 401(a) Retirement Plan. After one year of employment, the employee will begin contributing 6% to the Plan, with the City making a matching 6% contribution. Employees are fully vested after 5 years of service. Public Safety Officers participate in the SC Police Officer's Retirement System through PEBA.Additional Benefits for Public Safety Personnel Include:SC State Firefighter's Association - Members are eligible to receive discounts for education, housing, merchandise, insurance, legal, and wireless carriers, etc. Membership dues for full-time employees and paid volunteers are paid for by the Department.
