NOW HIRING Public Safety Director

Position Overview: The Kingsville Township Board of Trustees is seeking a qualified and experienced Public Safety Director to oversee the township's Fire and EMS operations. This part-time position involves leadership and administrative duties to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the township's public safety services. The Public Safety Director will be responsible for managing personnel, maintaining operational readiness of vehicles and facilities, and coordinating safety-related services within the township.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and oversight for Fire and EMS operations within the township.
  • Directly supervise the Fire Chief and all part-time employees within the Fire and EMS departments.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to fire safety, emergency medical services, and public safety protocols.
  • Develop and implement public safety policies and procedures in coordination with the Township Trustees.
  • Oversee maintenance and ensure proper functioning of township public safety vehicles, equipment, and facilities.
  • Assist in preparing and managing the public safety budget, ensuring financial accountability and effective allocation of resources.
  • Coordinate training, certifications, and continuing education for Fire and EMS personnel to meet safety standards and maintain a high level of service.
  • Work with insurance providers to ensure all vehicles, equipment, and facilities are properly insured.
  • Monitor and assess public safety risks, providing recommendations for improvements or upgrades to infrastructure or protocols.
  • Prepare and present reports to the Township Trustees on department performance, issues, and budget status.
  • Respond to emergencies as needed and provide support to Fire and EMS teams during major incidents or crises.
  • Collaborate with other townships, counties, or state safety departments as necessary to ensure coordinated responses to emergencies or public safety initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in public safety administration, firefighting, emergency medical services, or a related field.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with Ohio public safety regulations and standards.
  • Ability to manage budgets and personnel in a public safety environment.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a leadership role within a fire department, EMS agency, or public safety organization.
  • Knowledge of insurance requirements and facility/equipment maintenance for public safety operations.
  • Certification in firefighting, EMS, or emergency management (preferred but not required).

Work Schedule: This is a part-time position with flexible hours. On-call availability may be required for emergency situations.

Compensation: Pay is dependent upon experience and qualifications.
