Duties: Receive complaints and requests for service record information; evaluate work orders and determine proper routing: update complete word orders; perform dispatching duties for work crews; dispatch calls in a timely manner; confer with supervisor, managers and lead workers as necessary regarding the status of work order request. Maintain contact with work crews on assignment; maintain status and location of work crews; maintain daily log of field calls and work crews dispatched. Perform a variety of clerical and typing work; screen telephone calls; take messages for assignment department personnel. Maintain a variety of automated and manual logs, records and files related to dispatching and customer service activities. Data entry and good customer service skill a plus, Shift may rotate.
Qualifications: Two years of responsible secretarial and clerical experience, preferably involving some dispatching experience.
PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT, APPLICANT RECOMMENDED FOR EMPLOYMENT SHALL BE REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY PASS A URINALYSIS AND/OR BLOOD TEST TO SCREEN FOR ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUG ABUSE.

Duties:
This classification is equivalent to a Telecommunicator working in a Police 911 call center. This is shift work. Receiving emergency service calls from the public; requesting police or other emergency services; determining nature, location and priority of emergency; entering appropriate information in computer and forwarding calls to be dispatched. Answering non-emergency calls for assistance and referring to appropriate department or agency; using telecommunications system to coordinate emergency calls and relaying information and assistance involving other law enforcement agencies; updating and retrieving information from NCIC relating to wanted persons, stolen property, vehicle registration, stolen vehicles and other information; Receiving, processing, and transmitting information by teletype to federal, state and local government agencies, as well as, dispatching information to law enforcement personnel.
High School Diploma or Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade. Some experience in dealing with and communicating with the public is required.
