For more than 118 years, Backus Hospital has been the primary source of healthcare services for much of Eastern Connecticut. We are home to the only trauma center in New London and Windham counties, and are the only area hospital with LIFE STAR helicopter services. We deliver and coordinate a continuum of high-quality healthcare with the goal of improving the health of our communities.

JOB SUMMARY

Operates an employee Transporter bus to and from off-campus parking areas. Provide observation of hospital controlled parking areas. Assists with computer data entry activities for the Public Safety Division's motor vehicle registration database. Actively employs preventative measures to protect Hospital staff from violations of their person and property by reporting all suspicious persons and/or activities observed. Safeguards Hospital property from fire, theft and vandalism. Participates in staff training. Always alert to circumstances that threaten general public safety. Maintains confidentially of all hospital information at all times.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience: One (1) year experience in public safety field required. Three (3) years experience in a public safety field and experience working with diverse populations in a customer service oriented environment preferred. Experience operating public service buses preferred.

License and Certification: Valid CT driver's license with Passenger Endorsement required with excellent driving record. Medical Certification Card as required by the Department of Transportation.
