Description
GENERAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT
RECREATION DIVISION
PUBLIC SERVICE ATTENDANT
Under general supervision, as a lead person, to perform work involving contacts with the public and minor clerical and/or manual tasks in connection with the operation of a municipal commercial public service enterprise or similar.
Examples of Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities ( may perform other duties as assigned )
+ At a bathhouse or swimming pool, sells admission tickets; gives out and collects locker keys.
+ Checks clothing and valuables.
+ Sells merchandise, such as bathing caps.
+ Maintains order.
+ Directs patrons to lockers.
+ Cleans locker rooms and flush pool decks.
+ Prepares reports and accounts for cash taken in.
+ Makes inspection trips at regular intervals.
+ Directs visitors to the various exhibits, galleries or staff offices.
+ Sells catalogs and programs of exhibits.
+ Collects fees.
+ Maintains premises in a clean and orderly condition.
+ Keeps crowds orderly.
Minimum Qualifications
Qualifications (required):
+ Completion of a High School Diploma or G.E.D.
+ Two (2) years of experience in public service or other activities involving contacts with the public
+ One (1) year of which has been in a supervisory capacity.
Licenses, Certifications, and Other Special Requirements:
+ If certifies to a position involving the handling of food, must be eligible and able to obtain a valid food handler's card.
Equivalency
+ Equivalent combinations of education and experience that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be evaluated on an individual basis.

RETIREMENT BENEFITS
City Employees Retirement System
As a regular City employee you automatically become a member of the General Retirement System. This entitles you to a retirement allowance after:
- Completion of thirty (30) years of service;
- At age sixty (60) if you have at least ten (10) years of service, or
- At age sixty-five (65) with eight (8) years of service.
- In the event of disability, other eligibility rules apply);
- An early, actuarially reduced, retirement is offered after you have attained at least twenty-five (25) years of service;
- Employees are vested after ten (10) years of service, regardless of age.
