The City of East Lansing is seeking a public service employee.This position, under the supervision of the Deputy Director of Public Works, performs a variety of duties related to the care and maintenance of the City within an assigned division. Staff are assigned to divisions related to road network maintenance, parks/buildings landscape maintenance, sewer system maintenance, water system maintenance, and sanitation/recycling services.This position performs a wide range of general labor tasks and operates both light and heavy-duty equipment while following standard safety procedures and regulations. Experience related to the divisions listed above or other manual/skilled labor position is preferred; however, willingness and eagerness to serve the needs of this community is most preferable and training is provided for all operations, tools, and equipment. The first round of application reviews will take place the week of Dec. 10, 2024 for those applications received by Dec. 6, 2024.QualificationsMust possess an unrestricted Michigan driver's license, and be able to obtain, or already have, a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL), with air brakes, within 90 days from date of hire. The City provides full CDL training preparation, first round testing fees and vehicle for testing for candidates hired without a current CDL license.Special RequirementsAdditionally, to perform the essential functions of job, an individual could be involved in lifting heavy objects, bending, twisting, stooping, walking and standing, for long periods of time during the work shift.Pay Rate: $20.78/hour - $26.14/hourWork Schedule: 7:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., Monday - Friday#J-18808-Ljbffr
