Summary
Operates multi-line phone system, routes calls, processes work orders, and monitors and operates city control systems to include Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Outage Management System (OMS), Asset Essentials database, Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI); performs dispatch tasks as assigned.
This position is a non-exempt hourly position with a starting rate of $15.06 per hour.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
* Performs general clerical duties for the Public Utilities department including answering and routing incoming telephone calls, greeting and guiding visitors, maintaining files, sorting and routing mail;
* Operates a radio console in a central public utilities dispatch center to receive and transmit voice messages to public utilities field personnel;
* Receives incoming telephone calls and evaluates requests for public utilities services; collects essential information from callers, and makes return calls to customers;
* Acts on requests from field personnel for information and assistance;
* Enters locates into Texas 811;
* Enters work orders and locates into Asset Essentials database along with dispatching work orders to field personnel;
* Generate weekly report of open work orders for Public Utility Directors;
* Maintains office files and scans documents to electronic file system;
* Monitors and manages Outage Management System and reports outages to the appropriate personnel;
* Monitors and Operates Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and reports alarms to the appropriate personnel;
* Monitors and Operates Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) and reports alarms to the appropriate personnel;
* Notify Police and Fire Departments of road closures due to construction activity;
* Prepares daily work schedules for Public Utilities;
* Responds to after hour events such as storms as needed, fulfilling dispatch duties;
* Able to communicate in a professional and clear manner;
* Able to deal with stressful situations brought on by customers, staff, and other outside influences;
* Performs other Dispatch duties as assigned;

Education and/or Experience
High school graduation or its equivalent; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities and one or more years related experience and/or training.
Knowledge Of
Standard office practices and procedures.
