Salary : $47,881.00 - $61,104.00 Annually Location : Gresham, OR Job Type: Full Time Job Number: 25-27 Department: Community Livability Services Opening Date: 09/25/2024 Closing Date: 10/9/2024 11:59 PM Pacific Overview The City of Gresham is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic individual to serve as a Public Utility Worker I within the Community Services Division. Working in this capacity, the PUW will collaborate closely with the Code Compliance and Homeless Services teams to resolve violations of city code including graffiti, overgrown vegetation, debris/garbage/junk, and abandoned unauthorized campsites in public spaces and public rights-of-way. Come build the future with us. Position Description The PUWI is an essential part of the Community Services team and works independently in the field, often interacting with the public. The City seeks a responsible, self-motivated candidate with excellent interpersonal communications skills who can represent the City positively in the field while working to improve the livability of the Gresham community. What you'll get to do:
  • Removal of code violations in public spaces
  • Proactively patrolling, monitoring My Gresham, and responding to requests to remove items like debris/garbage/junk, furniture, shopping carts, illegally dumped materials, graffiti, and overgrown vegetation from public spaces and public rights-of-way.
  • At the direction of the Homeless Services Specialists, clearing impacts of homelessness including abandoned unauthorized campsites, debris, and bio-hazards.
  • Safely towing utility trailer of supplies/debris.
  • Collaboration with Code Compliance Team
  • Daily collaboration with code compliance staff to resolve code violations like graffiti and overgrown vegetation and unpermitted signs in public spaces and public rights-of-way.
  • At the direction of code compliance staff, abating code violations on private property.
  • Safely operating light to heavy equipment and power tools.
  • Collaboration with Homeless Services Team
  • Daily collaboration with homeless services staff to resolve impacts of homelessness in public spaces and public rights-of-way.
  • At the direction of homeless services staff, abating code violations on private property.
