Work in the Public Works Department (Streets, Water, and/or Sewer) as assigned by the Director of Public Works.MINIMUM EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSHigh school diploma or GED Valid Texas driver's licenseMust have or be able to obtain Class D Water Distribution License within 6 months PREFERRED:
- Class C Water Distribution License
- Experience in maintenance, repair and construction of streets, water distribution, and/or wastewater collection systems
- Experience using heavy equipment
- Class A CDL
- Experience with SCADA Computer System
- Experience with Lift Stations
- Inspection experience with Water, Sewer and Street projects
- Experience with reading and interpreting engineering plans
Essential Duties and Responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
- Perform work activities in Streets, Water and Sewer and all additional Public Works functions.
- Prepares job sites to ensure that safety procedures are established repair methods are utilized.
- Repairs, inspects, and maintains the construction of streets, concrete curb and gutters.
- Repairs, inspects, maintains and is responsible for safe keeping of equipment and tools.
- Assists in preparing daily work reports, logs and records.
- Assists in scheduling maintenance activities.
- Operates equipment, such as, backhoe, loader, dump truck, jet machine, roller and any other equipment that may become available.
- Responsible for reading water meters.
- Regular attendance is an essential function
- Performs all other duties as assigned or required.

- Skill to communicate orally and in writing
- Ability to follow oral and written directions
- Knowledge of preventative and minor maintenance repair on tools and equipment
- Skill in using hand tools to perform routine manual labor tasks
- Knowledge of routine construction maintenance and repair methods
- Ability to identify and correct potential safety hazards
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
Physical Requirements/Work Environment Must be physically fit with strength sufficient to lift up to 80 pounds. Must be able to operate a motor vehicleMust possess visual and hearing acuityMost work is performed outdoors in all types of weather.
