The City of Port Wentworth Public Works Department is currently seeking qualified applicants for theposition of PUBLIC WORKS WORKER I. The primary function of the Public Service Worker I is tooperate, maintain, and repair both the City's water system and the City's sanitary system: and to insureand adequate and safe public water supply, while preventing health hazards and degradation of waterquality from sanitary sewer system. Some job duties include reading meters, repairing leaks, watersampling, installing, and repairing hydrants, performing maintenance on lift stations, and installing newwater and sewer lines. Some water, sewer repair, and mowing equipment experience is a must. Also, thisposition requires 24-hour availability for emergency callouts.This is a full-time position ranging from $20.00-$24.00 per hour determined on qualifications. Qualifiedapplicants must be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or equivalent, entry level to (1)year of Water and/or Wastewater Operators and/or Collection License, A completed application withresume, salary history, and references is required.The City of Port Wentworth offers a generous benefits package, including 100% medical coverage foremployees and families, Georgia Municipal Association pension participation, and life insurance.
