Salary: $34.48 - $43.04 Hourly Location : 430 3rd Street, Farmington Job Type: Full-time Job Number: 000062 Department: Public Works Opening Date: 09/11/2024 Closing Date: 9/25/2024 11:59 PM Central This union position is responsible for operation and maintenance of city utilities and streets. Position assists in routine maintenance of vehicles and equipment, coordinates and interacts with citizens, contractors, vendors and other public/private utilities. - Street maintenance -, tree trimming/removal, sidewalk replacement, grading gravel roads/alleys, and sign maintenance. Locating all city owned utilities. - Operate, repair and maintenance of water mains, wells, gate valves, curb stops, hydrants, water towers and hydrant flushing. Installation, inspection, repair and read water meters Record keeping, preparing reports, water sampling. Knowledge of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition. - Sanitary sewer - operation, repair and maintenance of lift stations, sewer lines, and manholes. Monitor conditions and atmosphere in lift stations and manholes. - Clean and repair storm lines, catch basins, waterways and flared ends. Curb replacement. - Perform snow plowing salting, sanding and hauling. Mailbox repair/replacement. Must respond to emergency requests. - Responsible for operation and maintenance of all equipment, including walk around of all equipment and tools. - Rotating on-call pager dealing with water problems, sewer, storm water, natural disasters and power outages. Requires 15-20-minute response time. - Performs welding and other duties of a similar nature or level. High school diploma, up to 1 year of specialized or technical training in heavy equipment operation and water, sewer, and street maintenance and repair, and 3 years general maintenance experience; water, sewer, and street maintenance experience preferred; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the duties listed above. Licensing Requirements: •Class B driver's license with air brake endorsement •Class B water license upon eligibility •Class SC sewer license upon eligibility Knowledge of: •Water maintenance •Sanitary/storm sewer maintenance •Street maintenance •Truck driving Skills (position requirements at entry): Skill in: •Basic mathematical aptitude •Mechanical aptitude •Operating a wing truck, grader, front end loader, skidsteer, tractor backhoe, chipper, bucket truck, jetter, etc. •Customer service including the ability to maintain composure under pressure. •Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction. •Demonstrated ability to develop positive working relationships and maintain a respectful work environment. •Ability to handle stress and/or stressful situations. Following is general information on benefits offered by the City of Farmington. Individual benefits may vary slightly depending on the specific position, full or part-time status or union contract. Payroll: Wage or salary is paid bi-weekly. Pay periods end on Sunday with checks for that pay period being issued on the following Friday. Benefits: For the year of 2024, the City will make a monthly contribution of $838.20 - $1,772.77/month, depending on the chosen medical plan, which will go towards the medical health plan, Basic Life AD&D and a HSA or HRA spending account. In addition, dependent health coverage, supplemental life insurance coverage, short-term disability coverage, dental coverage, vision coverage and other insurance are available. You can also elect to contribute to the health care flexible spending account and/or the dependent care flexible spending account. The City will cover long-term disability insurance. Health Partners health insurance plans are offered for single, employee plus child, employee plus spouse or family coverage. All insurance coverage takes effect the 1st of the month following 30 days of employment. PTO or Vacation/Sick: Based on union group either Paid Time Off (PTO) or vacation and sick time is offered. Retirement: Eligible employees will automatically be enrolled in a retirement pension account with Public Employee Retirement Association (PERA). 6.5 % of the employee's gross wage or salary is matched with a 7.5% contribution from the City. PERA plus Social Security benefits make up the coordinated retirement program. Some Police and Fire employees are mandated to participate in PERA at a rate of 11.8% of their gross wage or salary, matched by 17.7% contribution by the City. The City also offers two different options for deferred compensation and the City will match up to $50 per month for any pre-taxed retirement plan. Holidays: The City of Farmington recognizes twelve days as paid holidays for full-time employees plus a floating holiday of the employee's choice. Scheduled holidays are: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve Day, Christmas Day. 01 Do you hold a Class B Driver's license with air brake endorsement?
