Work involves but is not limited to obtaining quotes, purchasing materials, inputting transactions and maintaining records in a computerized inventory system to validate electronic records to physical counts, processing invoices for payment, handling materials and supplies necessary to maintain effective functioning of County departments, and interacting with a broad range of County staff. Job DescriptionEssential FunctionsThese are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position.Processes material requisitions and purchase orders for the purchase of both inventory and non-inventory materials in accordance with the Manatee County Purchasing policy. Loads and unloads supplies and material from trucks; receives and issues a variety of supplies and equipment; orders inventory replenishment and non-stock items; uses forklift as necessary.Verifies receipt and condition of invoiced parts and contacts vendors as needed to address OS&D materials.Maintains a timely and accurate communication exchange with County departments to understand their needs and priorities; explains the status of orders, back orders, and delivery problems.Accountable for security, storage, administration, and issuance of inventory items.Reviews physical inventory and re-orders supplies based on established safety stock levels to ensure delivery of items to the departments on a timely basis.Inputs data into the County financial system; manually validates physical counts and new costs of products to assure that inventories are valued appropriately.Receives and inventories surplus supplies and equipment, using written documentation and applicable computer programs. When ready for disposal, inventories and documents materials leaving the site; loads materials onto vehicle(s) designated for transporting such items.Maintains operation of assigned facility during emergency situations.Temporary assignment at any of the warehouses or fuel services may be made based on available personnel and operational needs.Uses calculator and personal computer to prepare and maintain applicable records, including purchase orders. Also uses computer to enter purchase order receiving data, and to issue stock.Assists with inventories; assists in trouble-shooting inventory database; assists in determining appropriate stock levels. Performs cycle counting.Temporary assignment to any of the warehouses or fuel services may be made based on available personnel and other operational needs.Operates forklifts (gasoline and electric). (If not certified, will receive training and certification.)Performs other related work (including weather or other extreme emergency duties) as required. Minimum QualificationsHigh school graduate/equivalent.Minimum of two (2) years' experience performing warehouse, inventory or related duties.Forklift Operator certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment (training provided).Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.Note: Through pre-employment exercises, must be able to demonstrate or verify the following: knowledge of modern (not more than six years prior to current date) inventory practices; experience in managing a comparable volume of business in a computerized environment (buying/receiving/issuing stock); experience in servicing many diverse customer needs, including billing requirements and varied service needs; knowledge and experience in participating in audits of inventories, both self-initiated and by third party oversight.
