What you will do:
The positions will split time between Asphalt Maintenance, Concrete Maintenance, and the Signs & Sweeping section.
Asphalt Pavement Maintenance duties include:being part of a small or large paving team conducting overlay and skin patching maintenance, trench patching, pothole patching, major spot repairs and street rehabilitation. Perform alley and shoulder grading. This section also performs snow & ice response.
Concrete Construction duties include:repair and replace concrete sidewalks, curbs, driveways, streets, and ADA ramps within the public right of way. Other duties may include traffic control, excavation, form work, concrete placement and finish, as well as returning the property back to the customer in pre-work conditions.
Signs & Sweeping duties include:install and maintain street signs & posts, lane line striping, curb painting, pavement legends, set up traffic control, and mow right-of-ways in high urban traffic areas.
These positions operate a variety of equipment and tools such as 10 yard dump trucks, backhoes, trackhoes, jackhammers, cut off saws, brush mowers, weed eaters, post hole diggers, digging bars, propane torches, hand and other power tools as required.

What are the minimum qualifications?
* Must pass the pre-employment background check, drug test (including marijuana),and/or physical exam.
* Must have an Oregon Commercial Driver License (CDL) or the ability to obtain within six months of hire date and a driving record that meets the City of Salem's driving standards.
* One-year general maintenance, repair, paving, or construction experience in street right-of-way, street maintenance, public works facilities, utility systems, and public improvement. Preference will be given to experience in specific area of assignment.
