Location: Hampton,VA, USA
The purpose of the class is to manage and oversee the City's street and bridge operation division to include concrete and asphalt construction, maintenance repair work, bridge maintenance/repair, and street sweeping activities. This job works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.
Minimum Requirements
* Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Mechanical Engineering or Surveying, or closely related field.
* Five (5) years of experience in street operations experience in concrete or asphalt construction, maintenance and repair work in a supervisory or working leader capacity.
* Municipal government or closely related experience preferred.
* A combination of education and experience may be considered for this position.
* Must possess a valid driver's license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driver's record based on the City of Hampton's criteria.
* This position is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City's current substance abuse policy.
* Must successfully pass a background check prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
Additional Requirements
The incumbent may be considered essential personnel during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
