With a commitment to excellence, the Public Works Department takes pride in delivering high-quality services, meeting the evolving needs of our dynamic city, and fostering a vibrant and thriving Forney.Examples of Duties Under supervision, performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled assignments in the construction, installation, testing, maintenance, and repair of City Public Sanitary Sewer System (PSSS), pumping facilities, sanitary sewer pipelines, tanks, and associated appurtenances.The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. - Performs all duties associated with wastewater collection, including installing, connecting, relocating, adjusting, testing, maintaining, televising, repairing, and replacing wastewater mains, pumps, and other equipment; cutting and fitting pipes; complies with department policies and procedures.
- Safely operates equipment and tools used at work site; places traffic control flags, signs, and cones to direct traffic around work sites, and operates and maintains hand and power tools.
- Performs routine maintenance and repair on pump stations, manholes, cleanouts, pumps, motors, vehicles, equipment, and tools; ensures quality control and restoration.
- Responds tactfully to questions and comments from the public and delegates to appropriate staff.
- On-call for emergency situations
- Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: No direct supervision exercised. Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possess a valid driver's license
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in general construction, road maintenance, stormwater collection systems, or related fields is preferred.
Special Requirements:
- Ability to obtain a Class A CDL within one (1) year of hire.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Operate a motor vehicle safely
- Work extended or on-call hours
- Ability to stand, walk long distances, kneel, crouch, stoop, and squat.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Exposure to cold, heat, and outdoor hazards.
