Salary: $30.10 Hourly Location : 50 Raupp Blvd, Buffalo Grove Job Type: Seasonal Job Number: 00054 Department: Public Works Opening Date: 06/26/2024 Closing Date: Continuous The Village of Buffalo Grove (Population 45,148) is currently seeking applicants for multiple Winter Seasonal Maintenance Workers in the Department of Public Works. Buffalo Grove Public Works is an APWA accredited agency providing high quality and innovative services that utilize technology to streamline service delivery. Examples of Duties / Knowledge & Skills Performing a variety of manual and semi-skilled tasks, including snow plowing/shoveling, painting, basic building maintenance/cleaning, street maintenance (concrete and asphalt), tree removal/trimming, utility excavation and repair, minor vehicle and equipment maintenance and other duties as assigned. Perform frontline winter maintenance Snow and Ice activities as well as underground utility repairs. Operates dump, flat-bed, or other trucks in transporting personnel, materials, and supplies, operates construction-types of equipment. Will be required to work in all types of weather conditions. Ability to use power and hand tools. Operates trucks equipped with snowplows and salt spreaders for use in snow and ice control. Performs related work as assigned and assists other sections as assigned. Must be available to work outside of regular work schedule on a regular basis, including holidays and weekends, often with little or no advance notice. Minimum qualifications & Requirements Graduation from high school and some experience in work related to the area of assignment, or an ability to demonstrate relevant training, experience or work ethic. Possession of valid state issued driver's license; Class D Illinois Driver's License. Candidates must be proficient in the use of technology for tracking work accomplished, through mobile devices such as iPads and other tablet devices (software specific training will be provided). Ideal candidates would have experience in the Public Works field (or similar) and would possess a valid CDL driver's license (class A or B). Supplemental information The hourly salary for this position is $30.10, annual limit of 999 hours including overtime (x1.5 scale), with the potential to reclassify to Part Time Employee allowing up to 1,559 annual hours. Plan for those hours to be used continuously, Monday through Friday 7am to 3:30pm (with additional overtime), from point of hire until hours are exhausted. Overtime is an expectation of this position and requires the ability to report to work within one hour of contact. Winter Seasonal Maintenance Workers will be on call for the duration of the winter maintenance season. The expected duration of seasonal employment will begin on Monday, September 16th, 2024 and conclude approximately on Friday, March 7th 2025, however a later start can be evaluated.
