Publication Production Specialist Job Summary:

Sparks Group has partnered with a global association based in Washington, DC to find a Publication Production Specialist. This will be a hybrid opportunity requiring you to be in the office at least 2 days per week. As a Publication Production Specialist, you will provide editorial input and fulfill substantial parts of the production processes relevant to the publication of numerous journals.

Publication Production Specialist Responsibilities:

  • To coordinate editorial production for five (5) journals, including administrative management of the electronic manuscript submission system.
  • Use journal reporting tools to create and analyze reports.
  • Administrative management of Journal's electronic submission system Editorial Manager.
  • Manages social media for all journals composing posts promoting manuscripts on LinkedIn and Twitter.
  • Creates data as desired by editorial boards of our journals.
  • Proofread publications/material.
  • Manage correspondence between copyeditors and publisher.
  • Manage author correspondence at galley and proof stages.
  • Prepare issue makeup.
  • Work with Director of Publications and other leadership to define publications department priorities.

Publication Production Specialist Requirements:

  • BS/BA degree is required.
  • 2+ years of proofreading experience, including copy preparation.
  • Experience with Editorial Manager a must.
  • Excellent reading and accuracy skills.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and proofreader marks.
  • Intermediate level of Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in a team environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to complete multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Familiarity with electronic publishing technologies.
  • Above average knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation.
