Location:Altru Hospital1200 S.Columbia Rd.Grand Forks, ND 58201Pay Range: $30.65 - $45.98Summary:The Pulmonary Lab provides diagnostic and therapeutic services to patients with a variety of pulmonary disorders. Pulmonary Function Technologists perform tests that can help diagnose a range of respiratory diseases by measuring how well the lungs take in and exhale air and how efficiently they transfer oxygen into the blood. The tests are also used to measure progression of lung disease and to assess how well a patient responds to treatment. This position also assists with inpatient and outpatient bronchoscopies, Endobronchial Ultrasound bronchoscopies, bedside tracheostomies as well as performs stress tests, O2 qualification testing and family education and support.Essential Job Functions:
  • Selects evaluation and assessment methods which correlate to the patient diagnosis, symptoms, and physician orders and documents evaluation and assessments according to Pulmonary Function policies and procedures. Reviews patient care guidelines and patient medical records.
  • Provides diagnostic and therapeutic treatment and physician assistance.
  • Identifies significant changes or high risk situations in patient's condition and takes appropriate actions, as evidence in reporting, consultation and documentation. Communicates pertinent information to appropriate caregivers.
  • Provides appropriate patient education, family teaching and support which correlates to the patient and family needs.
  • Completes order entry and verification and transcribes orders. Processes patient charges.
  • Disassembles, cleans, and assembles Pulmonary Function equipment and performs preventive maintenance according to standard operating procedures.
  • Coordinates patient/test scheduling with other caregivers.
  • Performs pain assessment and takes appropriate action according to standard operating procedure.
