Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Purchasing Agent in the construction industry, located in Rochester, New York. The primary function of this role involves procurement and pricing of construction-related materials, ensuring cost-efficiency and compliance with project specifications. This role will entail a high level of interaction with project personnel at construction sites.Responsibilities:- Procuring materials based on original estimates, securing the best pricing through hardline negotiations to obtain final cost.- Developing a comprehensive understanding of each project's contract documents through an independent review of plans and specifications.- Soliciting price proposals from specified manufacturers and those that comply with the technical description within the contract documents.- Comparing costs among bidders and selecting pricing based on cost and compliance with the contract documents.- Maintaining the pricing database by downloading price updates.- Developing a cost breakdown report from the estimate and determining the dollar value carried in the recap summary of the estimate.- Awarding contracts to the most comprehensive bidder and developing purchase orders in compliance with project specifications.- Coordinating with project personnel at construction sites.- Procuring tools and rental equipment for construction projects.- Utilizing various software such as Enterprise Resource Planning and Epicor to manage purchasing processes and maintain accurate records.- Utilizing excellent communication skills to effectively interact with project personnel and manufacturers. Requirements - Proficiency in Chef, Enterprise Resource Planning, Epicor, ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning, ERP Solutions, About Time, Accounting Functions, Accounts Payable (AP), and Buying Processes.- Strong background in Construction.- Excellent Communication skills.- Extensive experience in the purchasing field, including negotiation with suppliers and vendors.- Ability to analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability.- Experience in developing and implementing purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures.- Proven record of preparing and processing requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment.- Experience in controlling purchasing department budgets.- Knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques as well as a dexterity in reading the market.- Good knowledge of supplier or third party management software.- Aptitude in decision-making and working with numbers.- Ability to gather and analyze data and to work with figures.- Comfortable with occasional travel for work.Robert Half is the world's first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
