THE POSITION

In this role, you will be responsible for technical work in the procurement of goods, supplies, equipment, and services within the Department of Labor and Industry. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Purchasing Agent identifies and assesses department needs and recommends the proper course of action to initiate the purchase request. You will research customer needs, source suppliers, and obtain cost information for contracted and non-contract purchases. Work includes processing electronic and manual purchase requests for the department and contacting vendors to coordinate delivery of equipment, materials, and services. You will have the opportunity to conduct bid opening, review and evaluate bids for responsiveness, and communicate results to the awarded vendor.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

* Full-time employment

* Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.

* Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

* Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

* Three years of experience in purchasing work involving contact with vendors in the procurement of a variety of supplies, materials, equipment, or services; or

* Three years of experience in requisitioning, receiving, storing, distributing, and maintaining inventory of goods; or

* An equivalent combination of experience and training. Post-high school education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for purchasing or stores experience to a maximum of two years.
