We are dedicated to sustainability, innovation, and excellence in everything we do.Position Overview:We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing and Logistics Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating activities related to raw material purchasing, packaging material purchasing, ensuring our partners have all necessary documents, and managing freight. This role is crucial in maintaining the smooth operation of our supply chain and supporting our commitment to operational excellence.Key Responsibilities:Raw Materials:
  • PO management: Place, update and follow up on POs accordingly
  • Meet frequently with the Sourcing & Purchasing team to analyze the position and smooth over any discrepancies
  • Coordinate deliveries according to information received
Packaging Materials:
  • PO management: Place, update and follow up on POs accordingly
  • Run MRP on a weekly cadence, working collaboratively to ensure all materials are ordered.
Documentation:
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve any documentation-related issues.
  • Ensure all partners have the necessary documentation for productions and compliance.
Freight:
  • Solicit and evaluate freight bids to secure the most cost-effective and reliable transportation options.
  • Coordinate logistics for shipments as needed, ensuring timely and efficient delivery.
  • Manage relationships with freight carriers to ensure high service levels and address any issues that arise.
Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work closely with the operations and procurement teams to ensure alignment and efficiency.
  • Provide regular updates on purchasing and logistics activities internally
  • Address and resolve any issues related to documentation internally and externally with our partners.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in purchasing, logistics, or supply chain management, preferably in the food industry.
  • Strong understanding of raw materials and packaging materials.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills to collaborate interdepartmentally and with outside partners. Spanish speakers are a plus.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using MRP on an ERP system (SAP Business One is preferred) and Microsoft Office/Google Suite. Mac experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Work environment:
  • Remote work available but candidates must be living in the Chicago area to be in close proximity to NSI's office location. Please do not apply if you are not willing to relocate.
  • Potentially 10% of the position would consist of visiting the NSI office or manufacturing facilities in the Chicago area as needed to support any of the company initiatives such as local team meetings and quarterly inventory counts.
