Purchasing Assiastant

Be part of a company with a deep-seated team centric, empowered work culture. Our client continues to grow by word of mouth and is currently looking for a Purchasing Assistant. The Purchasing Assistant supports the Purchasing Manager in the procurement of parts and services to meet production needs. This role involves assisting in vendor communication to ensure best pricing, delivery, and payment terms. The Purchasing Assistant also helps identify new suppliers to support our client's evolving needs. Strong communication and collaboration skills with various departments and vendors are essential. Previous experience in manufacturing and familiarity with mechanical and electrical components is an advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in reviewing production forecasts and purchasing shortage reports.

Solicit and track vendor quotes for parts and services.

Generate and distribute purchase orders.

Follow up on purchase orders to ensure timely deliveries.

Communicate part status to departments as needed.

Update and maintain Bills of Material.

Help maintain accurate part and freight cost data for pricing.

Monitor inventory levels and purchase receipts to meet company goals.

Assist in researching and developing new vendors.

Track material costs against job budgets.

Support vendor negotiations for cost savings.

Conduct cycle counts and maintain vendor files.

Coordinate product returns with Manufacturing and Quality departments.

Review and process packing slips and receivers.

Job Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's or Associate's degree in business or materials management, or equivalent professional experience preferred.

Experience and Skills:

Minimum of 3 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and MRP/ERP systems.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong analytical, decision-making, and negotiation skills.

High attention to detail and strong follow-up abilities.

Knowledge of mechanical and electrical parts is preferred.

Ability to multitask and manage deadlines.

Comfortable making decisions and working in a team environment with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
