- Graduate from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree - preferred.
- Note: Applicants who do not meet the above educational requirement may substitute additional experience as indicated below on a year-for-year basis with thirty (30) semester hour credits being equal to one (1) year of experience.
- Two (2) years experience in the large scale purchases of commodities, materials, equipment, and/or supplies-preferred.
- Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, File Maker Pro, and Internet Explorer
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board deem appropriate and acceptable under state law.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Knowledge of laws, regulations, policies, standards and procedures relating to a government purchasing department after a period of training.
- Knowledge of and familiarity with problems encountered in field and office purchasing work for a school agency.
- Organizes assigned work and develops effective work methods.
- Comprehends and analyzes individual supply problems and particular needs of various departments.
- Works harmoniously with associates, superior officers, vendors, and salespersons and with others interested in or concerned with purchasing matters.
- Performs such duties as maybe required to develop procedures for receiving, tabulating, and recording requisitions in one or more areas received from different departments and the preparation of proposals to be sent to vendors and the checking of bids.
- Deals effectively with salespersons and vendors.
- Expedites the delivery of purchases.
- Prepares reports
- Maintains records and files.
- Utilizes various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office or related units.
