This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company's locations: Silo Ridge Field Club, just two hours from New York City. Silo Ridge is seeking a Purchasing Manager to join the Procurement Department. As the Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the procurement process to ensure the efficient acquisition of goods and services necessary for our operations. You will work closely with vendors, suppliers, and internal departments to negotiate contracts, monitor inventory levels, and optimize purchasing strategies to support the resort's objectives. In this role, you will be part of creating the Discovery Land Company experience for our members and fellow employees. Key Responsibilities
  • Update all new sku's received on market lists and inventory sheets
  • Ensure that the front-of-house team is using the IDT system (Internal Transfers system) daily, and maintain daily transfers to all food outlets (Ridge House, Barn, Comfort Stations, and Bakery)
  • Coordinate with department heads daily to be attentive of any significant deliveries
  • Maintain par stocks on food, beverage and dry goods as agreed-upon by culinary and service leaders (regularly meet with Chef, Beverage, and then order to maintain pars)
  • Work with vendors and distributors to take advantage of any buying incentives and/or promotional items (particularly in the Food & Beverage area) and ensure that they are routed to the appropriate departments
  • Receive shipments and sign all necessary paperwork upon receipt
  • Verify packages according to order and invoices (quantity, quality, price, weight)
  • Ensure all food, beverage and dry goods storage is organized, labeled and the storage is neat, clean and organized, as well
  • Contact supplier or shipper promptly if an error is recognized
  • Assume responsibility for returning unsatisfactory shipments or receiving replacements
  • Label deliveries and orchestrate delivery to their designated place
  • Ensure all cleaning schedules, temperature records, opening/closing checklists are completed and recorded daily for the purchasing/receiving area
  • Create and implement new ideas to streamline purchasing/receiving operations
  • Monitor inventory levels through regular inventory checks
  • Maintain all equipment and be sure it is properly handled
  • Find alternatives for competitive pricing where applicable
  • Brainstorm ideas for streamlining all aspects of the operation with other department heads for maximum efficiency
  • Protect the assets of the club within the receiving area
  • Maintain accurate inventory of all items and track all waste, shrinkage and transfers
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays and an ability to work a shift greater than eight (8) hours in length
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than 50 pound
